November 3, 2026 Voter Guide

This year I'm trying something new: Releasing my voter guide earlier and updating along the way. This was updated as of Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 11:00 p.m.

Summary of My Key Recommendations

See below to get more detailed information

Public Offices

Los Altos City Council

Pick 1 candidate in each District area.

District 2 (Grant Park Area): Anky van Deursen

I’m supporting Anky for Los Altos City Council because she brings the combination our city needs: deep community roots, relevant professional experience, and the ability to bring people together.

Her broad support reinforces my confidence in her. Her endorsers include the Democratic Party, Planned Parenthood Federation, the League of Conservation Voters, and the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors, alongside respected school, city, and regional leaders.

Among them are Jessica Speiser, Vaishali “Shali” Sirkay, Jeff Baier, Laura Casas, Patrick Ahrens, Anna Eshoo, Margaret Abe-Koga, Sally Meadows, Larry Lang, Pete Dailey, Jonathan Weinberg, and Neysa Fligor.

Choosing a councilmember means looking beyond familiarity to who is best equipped to solve problems, build consensus, and deliver results. Anky’s experience as a corporate attorney, PTA leader, community mediator, co-founder of the Dutch School Silicon Valley, and Housing Manager for the City of Mountain View gives her a strong foundation for that work. She understands both the concerns of local families and the practical responsibilities of city government.

Anky and her family have called Los Altos home for more than 35 years. Her children attended Oak Elementary, Blach, and Mountain View High School, and now her grandchildren are growing up here and attending local public schools. Her commitment to Los Altos spans generations, giving her a personal stake in the decisions we make today and the community we leave for tomorrow.

What makes Anky the stronger choice is how she approaches leadership: listening carefully, communicating clearly, and working collaboratively toward meaningful results. Those qualities matter when our city faces complicated decisions that require sound judgment and cooperation.

For me, the choice comes down to experience, judgment, and a collaborative approach to public service. Anky brings all three, and that's why I'm endorsing her and encouraging you to vote for her.

Read more about Anky here.

District 4 (Los Altos HS and Downtown Area): Larry Lang

This race is uncontested. In uncontested races, I do not always provide a recommendation. As someone who lives in District 4, I do recommend Larry, as I have seen him be deeply engaged with the community.

You can read more about Larry here.

This is our city's first time voting as Districts. Since we're all transitioning to a new voting system, here is a summary of the District areas, who is sitting in that seat now, and when you would vote for that seat.

Los Altos School District (LASD)

Pick 3 Candidates (out of 4): I am choosing the only 3 candidates with sustained and meaningful contributions and experience with the school district. In fact after interviewing all the candidates, the Los Altos Town Crier Editorial Board also endorsed these candidates.

My choices are: Vaishali "Shali" Sirkay, Bryan Johnson and Brandon Stroy. Vote for ALL THREE.

Vaishali "Shali" Sirkay

You can read more about Shali here. You can find her endorsements and testimonials here.

Bryan Johnson

You can read more about Bryan here. You can find his endorsements here.

Brandon Stroy

You can read more about Brandon here. You can find his endorsements here.

Mountain View Los Altos High School District (MVLA)

Pick 1 in your Trustee Area.

Area 1: No recommendation.

There is only one candidate running in this race who is relatively unknown.

Area 2: Ellen Kamei

Ellen is the only candidate in the race, and I'm excited that she's running for the MVLA School Board. I believe her experience on the Mountain View City Council will bring a perspective that would strengthen our board. You can read about Ellen here.

Area 3: Sanjay Dave

This is a hotly contested race with two incumbents and one returning Board member running for the same seat. Sanjay is a former MVLA School Board member who served for 8 years between 2016-2024. The other two candidates are incumbents, and they're all running for Esmeralda Ortiz's seat, who has decided not to run for a second term. Esmeralda has endorsed Sanjay for this race. Other trusted local leaders and MVLA community members have also endorsed Sanjay.

The MVLA School Board is in need of leadership, and I've endorsed Sanjay because I believe he is the most capable of providing the guidance and experience that is needed.

You can read more about Sanjay here. You can find his endorsements here.

Find out which trustee area you are in

This will be the first trustee area-based MVLA School Board election. Previously all seats were voted at-large, meaning everyone in the MVLA catchment can vote for any seat. Now, we only vote for the candidates in our subareas within the MVLA catchment. Below are a description of an approximate neighborhood area for every area. Please double check your Trustee Area on the official MVLA map.

Local Ballot Measures

Regional Transit Measure: TBD

Los Altos Measure D: NO (click on toggle to read why)

I’m Peipei. I’m a parent here, and I’m a long-time and dedicated volunteer in Los Altos. I love Los Altos. I’m planning to live here for the long term and hopefully see my grandkids grow up here.

That’s why I’m voting no on Measure D, along with:

  • The League of Women Voters
  • The Los Altos Chamber of Commerce
  • The Los Altos Town Crier
  • The Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation
  • The Los Altos Village Association
  • Many trusted local residents

See a partial list of individuals and organizations opposed to Measure D.

I understand the appeal of protecting our downtown and giving residents a voice. I want those things, too. But when I look at how this measure actually works, I see expensive legal battles, risks to our neighborhoods, and potentially less local control.

El Camino Healthcare District Measure: TBD
